A waiter or waitress's primary responsibility is to

Key duties and responsibilities of a waiter/waitress include:

- Order Taking: Accurately recording food and beverage orders and communicating them to the kitchen staff.
- Serving: Delivering food and drinks to customers, ensuring accuracy and presentation.
- Table Maintenance: Clearing finished plates and glasses, resetting tables, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area.
- Payment Handling: Presenting bills, processing payments, and making change.
- Upselling: Suggesting appetizers, desserts, or drinks to enhance the dining experience.
