Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, located in Bakersfield, California, is an acute psychiatric and behavioral 90 bed facility situated on 8.8 acres.

We offer inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults needing mental/behavioral health, chemical dependency; and co-occurring disorders treatment through our medically supervised detoxification.

Job Summary

Leads Risk Manager and Quality Analyst to be responsible for the development, planning, coordination, and administration of a systematic program designed to reduce risk and injury. Also, responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring of a quality review program.

  • Directs the collection, measurement and presentation of data required for monitoring quality indicators.
  • Identifies and assesses quality management problems and refers to staff for action.
  • Serves as resource to medical staff and facility committees regarding quality issues.
  • Ensures the provision of in-service education to parties involved in quality assurance, familiarizing them with TJC standards, its interpretation, methods of data collection display and statistical analysis.
  • Monitors and manages compliance with TJC, CMS, CDPH and other regulatory standards.
  • Leads and collaborates with regulatory agencies during surveys and accreditation.
  • Manages the identification, analysis and assessment of loss potential throughout the facility.
  • Identifies legal risks related to professional and comprehensive general liability for the prevention and control of losses due to these legal risks.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and communicates patterns and trends or professional and comprehensive general liability claims experience to the administrative and medical staff.
  • Makes recommendations concerning facility operation to reduce exposure to liability and insurance claims.
  • May represent the organization in litigation matters and coordinates with attorneys.
  • Carries out personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision, including screening and selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and employee relations functions.
  • Performs related duties as requested.

The Annual Salary for this position is based on experience and is anticipated to be between $120,000 - $140,000 per year.

Though we do need to meet some minimum requirements for the position such as a High School Diploma, a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and preferrably 3 years of similar experience, with at least 1 year in a behavioral or psychiatric setting, we're really looking for people who bring their HEART to work.

The Director of Clinical Services must also have a current CA License as LCSW.

If you have previous experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment where your attention was focused on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or other mental healthcare situations, or specific experience as a Director of Clinical Services, then your application to this position will be moved to the shortlist of candidates.

Through prevention, intervention, treatment, and education, we can and we will make a difference not just here in Bakersfield, but throughout our extended communities.

Knowledge of psychiatric service delivery system and treatment methods, with specific knowledge and skills in areas of risk management, infection control, and utilization review; strong oral and written communication skills, current knowledge of continuous Quality Improvement methodology; organizational and time management skills; skills in data collection, analysis, evaluation and interpretation; knowledge of applicable standards and regulations; problem solving skills; teaching or training skills.

CPHQ or CPHRM preferred.

You should have a current CPR certification when you apply or obtain certification prior to your start date.

If you don't have a current CPR certification, just let us know and we'll make sure you get it before you start -- and even cover the cost for you.

Additionally, you'll complete a "Handle-With-Care" Physical Restraint Technique and Verbal De-escalation Training during your orientation so that you know how and when to engage when such an event occurs.
