Under the general direction of the Deputy Commissioner, Administration and Licensing Services Branch (ALSB), the Staff Services Manager I (SSMI) (Specialist) serves as a highly- skilled program specialist and consultant to the Deputy Commissioner and Branch Division Chiefs on the strategic goals of the branch. The incumbent independently manages, oversees, and leads implementation of strategic priorities of the ALSB. The incumbent is expected to consistently demonstrate a high degree of initiative, good judgement, effectiveness in working with others, and independence with performing assigned tasks.
Duties include but are not limited to: independently developing branch communications, developing and conducting branch audits, tracking and monitoring branch projects and high- priority assignments, identifying branch strategic initiatives, and serving as branch project manager, in an effort to support the goals of the California Department of Insurance (CDI) ALSB. Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 and related Pay Differential 386. PLP 2025 requires employees to receive a reduction in pay in exchange for monthly hours of PLP 2025 leave credits.
