Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position

• Development technician focused on delivering Prototypes through 3D Printing and Additive MFG Technologies.
• Work closely with engineers to deliver prototypes for advanced fiber optic networks.
• Collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts.
• Execute day to day activities related to 3D printing requests, priorities and execution.
• Projects could support any Global Corning Division.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with internal project teams to determine project requirements.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot 3D printers to produce high-quality parts and prototypes.
• Monitor print requests, ensure proper settings to deliver optimal print quality.
• Manage material inventory, ensure proper usage, storage and material handling.
• Solve problems and improve processes based on fundamental understanding.
• Perform day to day setup and operation based on project timelines.
• Continuous Improvement of print specific processes and support lean initiatives.
• Maintain a safe work environment.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Two-year technical degree or military equivalent, along with two years of experience in a development or experimental laboratory environment working with 3D printing or additive manufacturing technologies.
• Ability to clearly express technical ideas.
• Ability to interpret drawings and schematics.
• Ability to make sound decisions by blending analytical thinking with practical judgment.
• General computer and networking knowledge.
• Product Design using CAD 

Experiences/Education - Desired

• Familiar with fiber optic networks
• Experience with lab and equipment
• Experience in manufacturing environment
• Experience with Parametric Product Design Software

The range for this position is $72,744.00 - $100,023.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
